PRIVATE · LOCAL · RESTORABLE

Open a Claude conversation export without uploading it.

ChatViewer turns conversations.json into a readable timeline directly in your browser. Search conversations, inspect structured content, and recover file versions while the source archive stays on your device.

Private by default

The selected archive is parsed in browser memory. Conversation text and restored files are not sent to this server.

Faithful conversation view

Human and assistant messages, thinking blocks, tool calls, results, attachments, and timestamps are presented in order.

Recoverable file history

When the export contains file operations, ChatViewer replays compatible edits so each available version can be viewed or downloaded.

How to view an export

  1. Export your Claude data and locate conversations.json.
  2. Choose the file or drop it onto the import area above.
  3. Browse the restored timeline and open available file versions.

Common questions

Is conversation data uploaded?
No. The archive is processed locally in the current browser tab and is cleared from memory when the page is refreshed or closed.
Which JSON formats are supported?
A top-level conversation list and an object containing a conversations list are supported, including chat_messages and common content blocks.
Can every attachment be restored?
Only content present in the export can be reconstructed. A file identifier, path, or UUID alone is not enough to recreate the original bytes.

ChatViewer is an independent local viewer and is not affiliated with Anthropic.
